One family, three vineyards, three castles...
In 1961, Daniel BANTEGNIES acquired the Château Bertinerie in the Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux appellation and began his endless quest for excellence by transforming and improving the vine population with clones.
With the help of his two sons, Eric and Frantz, both graduates in wine growing and oenology, he developed the vineyards and improved the quality of the wines.
The success of BERTINERIE is the result of an ideal balance between
INNOVATION, TRADITION, and EXPERIENCE
In 1985, with the help of the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique, Daniel BANTEGNIES converted the vineyard to the lyre vine training system.
Over 40 years, the Château Bertinerie has won 59 gold, silver and bronze medals.
TERROIRS AND GRAPE VARIETIES OF OUR VINEYARD
Over the past two centuries, the successive owners of the Bertinerie vineyard have selected the best terroirs in Cubnezais, Cavignac and Cézac.
The red grape varieties planted on the south facing clayey-limestone hillsides of Château Haut Bertinerie are 40% Cabernet-Sauvignon and 60% Merlot.
The white grape variety planted on the north facing clayey-limestone hillsides of Château Haut Bertinerie is pure Sauvignon.
At Château Bertinerie, red Merlot grapes are grown in clay-limestone soil, while Cabernet-Sauvignon grapes are grown in chalky-clayey soil.
White grapes grown Château Bertinerie are 100% Sauvignon grapes and are grown in chalky-clayey soil.
